About the Item
This beautiful chandelier was designed by Oscar Torlasco for Stilkronen in the 1960s, in Italy. The chandelier consists of six arms that correspond to 6-light points which hold 2 glasses/ lenses each for a total of 12 glasses. Golden brass frame.
Dimensions: Diameter circa 50 cm / 19.68 in, height 95 cm / 37.4 in, the height of each glass piece: 25 cm / 9.84 in.
Designer Oscar Torlasco (1934-2004), born in Rome, Italy, in 1934, designed many beautiful sconces, floor lamps, and chandeliers. Torlasco was designed for several Italian lighting manufacturers including Lumi, Esperia, Stilux, Lamperti, and Stilkronen. Most of his designs are from the 1950s and 60s. His eclectic designs ranged in style from the Industrial and Space Age to Italian Art Deco. For many lamps he uses optic lenses for spreading/diffusing the light, it is his trademark. In 1959 Torlasco won the Italian design award, the “Compasso d’Oro” (Golden Compass) for his Genova 4053 street lighting.
The light fixture is in complete working order, but as with all vintage or antique lighting, we would always suggest it is tested and fitted by a qualified electrician.
