About the Item
A striking pair of Danish pendant lamps from the 1960s, designed by renowned lighting designer Claus Bolby. Known for his bold experimentation with materials and sculptural light diffusion, Bolby was a pioneering figure in mid-century Scandinavian design. These pendants reflect his signature aesthetic—clean lines, innovative use of acrylic resins, and a keen sense of how light interacts with form.
Each lamp features richly textured, amber-toned acrylic panels that emit a warm, atmospheric glow when illuminated. The organic, geometric structure pays homage to nature while maintaining a distinctly modernist edge—hallmarks of Bolby’s design ethos. Suspended by minimalist black cords and metal canopies, the lamps strike a perfect balance between artistry and functionality.
Having studied at the University of Applied Arts and collaborated with several Danish manufacturers during his career, Bolby brought a fresh perspective to lighting design—blending sculptural beauty with everyday utility.
