About the Item

A unique and very elegant pair of French 19th century Louis XVI style Alabaster, Ormolu, and Glass chandeliers. Each attractive five light chandelier is centered by an Ormolu acorn bottom finial centrally located on the base of the globe shaped Alabaster body. Above the Alabaster body is an astonishing pierced Ormolu frame displaying berried foliate designs, block reserves with rosettes, two pairs of 'C' scrolled fluted Ormolu arms, and a mid section decorated by bands of Glass beads that fill the openings of the circular frame. Above the frame are wonderful Glass decorations of colorful grapes and fruits. Atop each of the four Ormolu block reserves with rosette designs are curved and fluted Ormolu bands leading upwards to the top crown. The lovely pierced top crown presents a berried finial within surrounded by swaging garments hanging from the circular plate above. Emerging from the outside of the circular plate are four reeded 'C' scrolled bands that connect above and flank a tapered fluted socle with a beaded Ormolu top band. Above the four 'C' scrolled bands is the round foliate decorated canopy with palmette designs. *Shades, Canopies and Chain shown for display purposes, sold separately.
