About the Item

Pair Of Large 1700 Crystal Empire Chandeliers with seven lights, from the hall of an ancient Italian palace, in excellent condition. These large antique chandeliers, 161 cm high x 95 cm in diameter, originated in the last quarter of the 18th century for candle lighting, are made with a elegant gilded iron balloon structure composed of circular crowns of various diameters made of brass sheets, embossed with floral and fruit motifs and embellished with crystals. The upper crown is decorated with nine curved, embossed acanthus leaves, the top of which is adorned with a soft festoon, a chain of crystals with pendants. The top is connected with a cascade of chains of oval crystals, all original to the period, vertically to a larger diameter crown of brass richly embossed with fruits and plant motifs. Arranged on this crown are seven curved cast arms, also decorated with phytomorphic motifs and connected by crystal garlands. The arms end with a bud that encloses tall, custom-made wooden candles and e14 bulbs. The pair of chandeliers is fully functional, they have been restored and electrified for a maximum power output of 500 watts total. The lower part is always decorated with an embossed floral pattern and crystal pendants, vertical prisms. Unusual for this type of antique chandelier is the finial, the pinecone-shaped end element made of machined brass. These excellent made-in-Italy masterpieces of art and light, witnesses to an era of great splendor and wealth, originated in the 18th century to illuminate a salon of great prestige, thanks to their classic and timeless design, can make even a contemporary setting elegant and refined. These antique Italian chandeliers are large, one-of-a-kind pieces that date from around 1780 and are ready to hang. They should be professionally packed and travel hanging inside a wooden crate. These chandeliers are shipped from Italy. Magnificent Empire style candelabra in solid 800 silver The base is square with lion paw-shaped feet. Two frames with the typical palmettes of the Empire style frame a second smaller square decorated with 4 central flowers. The stem of the candelabra is a statue of a woman (goddess) with her hair gathered and holding a cornucopia in one hand ending with the main candle holder. The candelabra has 7 lights. The arms of the candelabra, made with the casting technique, have candle holders and wax collectors also made with the casting technique and finely chiseled. The central candle holder stands out for its height which surpasses all the other candle holders, making the candelabra slim and balanced in shape and proportions.
