About the Item
- An original and extremely rare pair of large opaline Bauhaus ceiling pendants by Siemens, Germany 1920.
- The opaline is of a fabulous bulbous shape with matching decorative galleries manufactured in copper plated steel, fully stamped with makers mark to the outer rim.
- Height 45cm, Width 38cm, Depth 38cm.
- Rewired in braided flex and PAT tested, price is for the pair.
Opaline Glass Opaline is a form of decorative glassware which was made throughout the 19th century, manufacture was predominantly French, although it was inspired by Venetian Milk Glass, and White Glass produced in Bristol. The popularity of Opaline glass began during the reign of Napoleon and various locations across in England were involved in their production. The opaline glass is characterised by a bright white colour, the high lead content defined it as crystal like, giving it jewel-like qualities across its appearance.
