French Art Deco Modernist Chandelier by Petitot, Paris, Circa 1920.
A rare and striking French Art Deco chandelier designed by the esteemed Parisian lighting manufacturer Petitot, dating to around 1920—an iconic example of early Modernist design in the Art Deco period.
This elegant Art Deco light fixture features two stacked discs of subtly green, hammered glass, suspended within a sleek and minimal polished chrome frame. The clean lines and geometric structure reflect the emerging modernist sensibilities of the 1920s. A timeless design, this model is documented in the official Petitot catalog as No. 16.114 (see photo, page 33).

About Petitot
Founded in 1878 by bronze artisan Antonin Petitot, and later helmed by his son Henri from 1917, Maison Petitot operated out of Paris and quickly became a leader in Art Deco lighting design. The firm specialized in producing finely crafted light fixtures, often in collaboration with renowned French glassmakers such as Sabino, Muller Frères, Schneider, and Degué.
By the 1930s, Petitot—alongside Hettier
Vincent—was recognized as one of the foremost producers of French Art Deco lighting, known for their use of heavy bronze, high-quality metals, and striking modernist forms. Their work remains highly collectible and sought after for both private collections and interior design projects.
