Priest Collar or 'Symfoni' pendant light by Claus Bolby in 1967, produced by CEBO Industri - gorgeous large yellow Plexiglas and metal hanging lamp in very good vintage condition. One of the most popular designs by Bolby, and an internationally sought after piece! An impressive pendant light, comprised of 31 rectangular shaped acrylic staves, secured by two cylindrical metal pieces, to form a large circular shape. Each acrylic stave is translucent sunny yellow and is without any air bubbles or impurities. The upper metal cylinder holds the bulb socket, placing the light bulb right behind the acrylic staves. The placement of the light bulb makes the translucent yellow acrylic staves guide the emitted light outward along their rectangular shaped rims, creating the illusion of a large glowing circle with an almost neon light effect. The sunny yellow turns warm dark yellow, almost orange, and emits a warm soft illumination. The open bottom provides some downward directed light. The Priest Collar was the first lighting design by Bolby, and originally designed for a Danish church in the early-mid 1960s. The first version was extremely large, and not meant for private homes, but in the late 1960s Bolby designed a range of smaller versions for private homes, named Symfoni. The name, Priest Collar actually only refers to the first extremely large model, but is know widely used as the common name for these pendants - the version up for sale here is the one made for private homes, called Symfoni. Stunningly beautiful lamp when lit, sculptural and intriguing when idle - with its sunny cheerful yellow color and cold polished metal, it would look amazing accenting a Mid-Century Modern dining table or sitting area, or maybe adding a super stylish expression in a Scandinavian Modern kitchen. Condition: Very good vintage condition with few signs of usage and age - please see the photos! All original, and no parts missing, but rewired with 2 m (6' 7") high end quality, black fabric cord - for safety and beauty. Tested and fully functional. Polished, cleaned, labelled and packed in protective bag. Light source: One bulb, Edison screw-fitting (E14/E12 with adapter) Max 40 Watt.
