About the Item
An extraordinary Art Nouveau period Quezal art glass chandelier in wonderful and remarkable original condition. Purchased from an estate in San Francisco where it was originally installed in the early 20th century. The art glass bowl and shades are decorated in the always pleasing pulled feather design, each piece is signed. The hardware and chains are all brass and we have left the patina as we feel that suits the look and character.
Rewired: We find that early vintage and antique lighting was designed as objects of art and we treat each fixture with careful attention to preserve it's original beauty. Our fixtures are cleaned, rewired and are ready to hang. Wear consistent with age and use.
The Quezal Art Glass and Decorating Company was an American art glass manufacturer founded in Brooklyn, New York, in 1901 by former Louis Comfort Tiffany employees Martin Bach, Sr. and Thomas Johnson. The company was known for its iridescent, Art Nouveau-style pieces, such as vases and lamp shades, which were considered strong competitors to Tiffany's own glasswork. The company operated until approximately 1924.
