About the Item
This rare ceiling lamp, designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by his company in Markaryd, Sweden, exemplifies the refined Scandinavian modern aesthetic of the 1960s. The lamp features a striking geometric frame constructed from solid teak, which supports four inverted conical shades made from white plastic. The combination of the warm-toned teak with the smooth, translucent plastic creates a visually appealing contrast, while the plastic shades diffuse the light softly and evenly, creating a warm, atmospheric glow.
Suspended from a cylindrical ceiling mount, the lamp incorporates multiple suspension wires that contribute to its architectural and balanced design. From below, the intersecting wooden elements form a symmetrical cross, enhancing the geometric clarity and structure of the composition.
Hans-Agne Jakobsson, known for his ability to innovate with materials and create atmospheric lighting solutions, designed this piece with both form and function in mind. The combination of teak and plastic reflects the era’s focus on experimenting with organic materials and new production techniques, resulting in a fixture that is visually light yet structurally robust.
With dimensions of 74 cm in width and depth (29.1 inches), and a height of 60 cm (23.6 inches), this ceiling lamp is both a functional light source and a sculptural centerpiece, reflecting the best of mid-century Scandinavian lighting design.

Hans-Agne Jakobsson
Hans-Agne Jakobsson was a Swedish interior and furniture designer, who ran his own company from 1951. Jakobsson was especially famous for his lighting designs, which often had a softly glowing light and organic shape. His designs were inspired by great, modern Scandinavian designers such as the Finnish icon Alvar Aalto and Danish lighting master Poul Henningsen.
