About the Item

Rare Dutch Mid-Century pendant with red glass ring by famed lighting manufacturer Hiemstra Evolux. In business as Hiemstra Evolux from 1960 to 1975 after having been established in 1934 by Niek Hiemstra and his brother-in-law as Hiemstra Evenblij, the company was an avant-garde lighting design firm with its headquarters in Amsterdam. High-end department stores such as "De Bijenkorf" carried Hiemstra's clean, Bauhaus-inspired designs. This rare piece is a marvelous example of the company's forward looking approach to lighting. In original condition with some age appropriate wear.
