A rare find from the history of Dutch lighting, this terracotta pendant was produced by Artiforte in the 1950s. While Artiforte is best known for its technical metal designs, this piece highlights the mid-century embrace of natural, organic materials.
Crafted from high-quality red terracotta, the lamp radiates warmth even when unlit. It was originally marketed in Artiforte’s catalogs as a functional downlight, specifically as "plant lighting" or supplementary grow lights to nurture indoor plants.
The design features a simple tapered form with a series of precise cutouts along the top rim. These perforations allow heat to escape and cast a playful pattern of light and shadow on the ceiling.
