About the Item

Manufactured in Czechoslovakia during the 1970s, these striking pendant lights originate from the communist-era period of Eastern European industrial design. Originally installed in a railway departure lounge in Prague, they reflect the era’s emphasis on durability, precision, and quietly expressive form. Each fixture features a pair of cut-glass prismatic shades set within a rectangular metal housing. When illuminated, the faceted glass softly diffuses the light while maintaining a bright, functional output, creating a balanced and atmospheric glow. The prismatic texture enhances light dispersion, lending both visual depth and practical performance. The cuboid fixtures have been carefully salvaged and sensitively restored, with original finishes and components preserved wherever possible to honour their Cold War–era character, while ensuring they meet contemporary electrical standards. Professionally re-wired in-house using CE-approved components to exceed British Standards. UL-listed components are available for orders to the United States. Reclaimed, restored, and ready for installation, these lights offer a distinctive blend of mid-century modern design and industrial heritage.
