About the Item

Wonderful “Pi Cavo” ceiling lamp in opaline glass and nickel-plated and black enameled metal. This stylish and unique pendant light was designed by Sergio Mazza and produced by Artemide in Italy during the 1960s. Fully original and in amazing condition. This iconic pendant lamp features a sinuous circular top in black enameled metal, enhanced by a nickel-plated metal band that connects it to a round opaline shade below. The contrast between the black enameled metal, nickel-plated accents, and white opaline glass makes it incredibly elegant. The effect when lit is simply spectacular, highlighting the outstanding quality of the glass. The lamp is wired and tested, compatible with EU and US standards, and uses a single E27 light bulb. The height is easily adjustable through the steel wire. A wonderful and highly decorative piece, perfect to elevate a Mid-Century Modern or contemporary interior with its clean lines and understated sophistication. Dimensions (cm): Diameter: 26 Max Height: 150 Sergio Mazza is an Italian designer, born in 1931, in Milan. In 1955 he opened his own business, and since 1961 works side by side with G. Gramigna in the Smc study, working in furniture and Industrial Design. Among the many honors and awards received, we remember the mention for Compasso d’Oro in 1960 due to the Artemide lamp Delta and the silver medal for the Appartamento italiano at the X Triennale of Milan. From 1967, he began designing for Olivari. In the publishing field, he co-directed the magazine “Ottagono,” since its founding in 1966, until 1988. Founded in 1960 by Ernesto Gismondi, Artemide is based in Pregnana Milanese, Italy, and operates through 24 subsidiaries. Its distribution network includes 55 branded showrooms in the main cities around the world. Artemide products are distributed in 98 countries. With five manufacturing units in Italy, France, Hungary, and Canada, two glass-works, and one Research Development centre supported by prototyping labs and groundbreaking tests, the Artemide Group currently has more than 750 employees, including 60 engaged in R&D, thus confirming the key role of innovation in the Group's success. At Artemide, technological research, partnerships with outstanding architects, as well as sociocultural investigation have been from the outset at the origin of innovative projects capable to illuminate the future with unabated power. Today the Artemide collections convey a unique mix of values: the approach to human and responsible light goes hand in hand with design and material savoir faire, combining next-generation technology with ancient wisdoms, a perfect expression of sustainable design.

Mid-Century Harvey Guzzini Metal and White Plexiglass Italian Chandelier, 1970s
By Harvey Guzzini, Guzzini, iGuzzini
Located in Roma, IT
Fantastic mid-century Guzzini metal and white plexiglass chandelier. Harvey Guzzini designed this fantastic piece in Italy during the 1970s. This amazing item is fantastic thanks to its pure and smooth lines combined with clean materials. An astonishing pendant lamp that will enrich a midcentury living room or kitchen. The item is perfect for a spacage space too. Harvey Guzzini is often mistakenly thought to be the name of a lighting designer active in the 1960s and 1970s. But in fact, the label belongs to a lighting manufacturing company, which was founded by six Guzzini brothers—Raimondo, Giovanni, Virgilio, Giuseppe, Adolfo and Giannunzio—who were inspired by the 1950 film Harvey starring James Stewart. Compounding the historical record even further, it seems that the Guzzini company rebranded many times in the 20th century, going by, at various points, Harvey Creazioni, Harvey Guzzini, Guzzini, iGuzzini, and Illuminazione Guzzini. Harvey Creazioni was originally founded in 1959 in Recanti (on the east-central coast of Italy) by Raimondo, focusing on the production of copper-plated decorative objects. Four years later, in June 1963, the six brothers joined together and established Harvey Creazioni di Guzzini, expanding production to include pendant lighting, sconces, and lamps, floor lamps. The brothers employed architect-designer Luigi Massoni—who was introduced to the Guzzini brothers by leading plastic importer Maurizio Adreani—as head of design, branding, public relations, and advertising. Famous Harvey Guzzini designs include Massoni and Luciano Buttura's Mushroom Table Lamp (1965), as well as the in-house designed Arc Floor Lamp (1968), Faro Table Lamp (1970), and Toledo Table Lamp (1973). Studio 6G, an interning design team, developed the collectable Clan Table Lamp (1968); and designers Ermanno Lampa and Sergio Brazzoli were responsible for the Nastro Series (1970), Orione Pendant (1970), Sirio Table Lamp (1970), Alba Floor Lamp (1973), Albanella Table Lamp...
