About the Item
Pawson’s design perfectly sets one handmade glass cylinder within another, the outer flaring into a refined disc lip at its lower edge. The lamp casts light downward, but its crystalline transparent body glows along its entire length.
Sleeve by John Pawson brings the designer’s minimalist sensibility
to a new degree of refinement. This blown borosilicate glass
pendant first starts life as a mass of molten glass retrieved from
a superheated oven. This malformed molten heap is then applied
to the end of a blowing rod – a long hollow metal tube via which a
glassblower introduces air from their lungs into the molten mass.
