A rare Italian Art Deco chandelier in sculptural copper and brass, echoing the refined modernist spirit of the Gio Ponti era.
The design is distinctly architectural, featuring a totemic copper stem with stacked discs, a large flared bowl, and elegantly radiating arms. The combination of warm patinated copper and milky opaline glass creates a refined atmosphere reminiscent of the early Machine Age interiors of Milan and Turin.
The piece relates closely to the early modernist aesthetics of Gio Ponti and his contemporaries, bridging classical Art Deco and rationalist Italian modernism. It was likely produced by a specialized Milanese or Turin atelier working for civic or residential commissions in the 1930s. A small numbered seal (18) suggests authentic workshop production.
Equipped with eight E14 sockets behind the glass candles and six E27 sockets hidden inside the central bowl, the chandelier provides both ambient glow and upward illumination. The noble aged patina on the copper and brass surfaces has been preserved to honor its authenticity and historical depth.
The chandelier reflects the early modernist vocabulary of Gio Ponti and the Milanese design movement of the 1930s, combining sculptural form with refined architectural balance.
