About the Item
Originally manufactured between 1967 and 1975, this striking black vitreous enamel industrial pendant light was produced by Elektrosvit, one of Czechoslovakia’s major state-run lighting factories during the Eastern Bloc era. Designed for heavy-duty use in textile mills, workshops and engineering plants, the pendant embodies the rugged, functional aesthetic typical of Czechoslovak industrial design in the late 20th century.
The piece features a high-gloss black vitreous enamel shade, paired with a vented steel neck and a substantial aluminium junction box stamped with the manufacturer’s distinctive mid-century Elektrosvit logo. This later logo style and the specific technical markings (including the TYP 387 designation and 380V rating) firmly date the fixture to the late 1960s to early 1970s, when the company modernised its production under new ČSN industrial standards.
Fully restored and rewired for modern interiors, the pendant offers a bold yet refined industrial presence. Its deep enamel shade provides focused, atmospheric illumination—ideal over dining tables, kitchen islands, bars and commercial spaces seeking an authentic Eastern Bloc aesthetic.
