About the Item
Swedish Mid Century Modern art glass pendant with black metal cage. Attributed to Wiktor Berndt for Swedish Flygsfors Glasbruk AB and manufactured in Sweden in the late 1950s-early 1960s. Blue art glass decoration on bubble shape white glass mouth blown within a black metal cage. Murano art glass style. Beautiful condition with no chips or cracks.

Wiktor Berndt was Flygsfors' chief designer from 1956 to 1974 as successor to acclaimed glass designer Paul Kedelv who left Flygsfors in 1956. Before coming to Flygsfors, Berndt studied at Kallstroms and in Murano, Italy. In the early 1960s, Berndt began designing his most popular range of art glass consisting of mold-blown colored glass with modernistic surface reliefs. Wiktor Berndt left Flygsfors Glassworks in 1974.
