About the Item
An iconic 1970s Mid-Century Modern Italian Gesto Terra reversible floor/ceiling lamp by Bruno Gecchelin for Skipper, Italy. A minimalist masterpiece surprisingly packed with features and versatility.
This stunning example features fully restored jet black gloss enamel lamp head that can be inverted to shine light either up to the ceiling or down to the floor.
The organic modern lamp head is held by two chromed tube steel pipes. The pipes stand vertically and bend on a curved 90 degree angle at the very top to support the lamp head in a horizontal orientation.
The pipes are anchored in a most unique base. The base is beautifully sculpted from a single slab of Fior Di Bosco (flowers of the forest) Carrara Marble. The obloid shape is at first deceptively minimalist. It is on deeper interaction that the detail of the design and the magic of the renowned Skipper stonemasonry can be fully appreciated.
