About the Item
An Italian brass floor lamp, circa 1970, with an applied palm-leaf motif and circular base.
The lamp is executed in polished brass, the palm-leaf element providing a restrained decorative accent typical of Italian decorative lighting of the period. The vertical stem and compact base give the piece a balanced, architectural profile. Comes with a black lacquer acrylic conical lampshade (diameter 76cm) typical of Italian decorative floor lighting from the period.
The use of polished brass and stylised botanical ornament is consistent with works attributed to Tommaso Barbi and reflects the decorative modernist language developed by Italian ateliers active in the late 1960s and 1970s. No maker’s mark is present.
A confident and well-resolved example of Italian sculptural floor lighting from the period.
