About the Item

Max Ingrand was a French designer, glassworker, and decorator. After studying at the National School for Decorative Arts of Paris, he mastered the techniques of stained and engraved glass. When he returned from the war, he became one of the most active glassmakers and re-constructors. Max Ingrand worked with Gio Ponti and collaborated with many of the leading Italian design firms of the mid-20th century. In the 1950s, he became the artistic director of light and furniture making in Fontana Arte, and his lighting designs are considered among the finest examples of modernist lighting design. Max Ingrand’s work is characterized by its strong geometric forms and the interplay between light and shadow. The Dahlia floor lamp is designed to resemble the petals of a dahlia flower, with curves and pointed elements arranged in a circular shape, which creates an organic and delicate appearance.
