About the Item
A 20th Century Italian floor lamp by Pia Guidetti-Crippa. Known as the P428 floor lamp, it was designed in the 1970s and is characterised by the clean lines which was a huge success in the world of interior design and they are very much sought after today. The lamp is operated by a switch to the body which allows the user to “dim“ the lamp. In reality the switch activates one, two or all three bulbs (hence the different coloured bulb holders) held within a large round opalescent diffuser, an integral part of Guidetti-Crippa’s design marrying functionality with attention to detail. A lamp which looks great in any modern home, giving a touch of mid century design that looks and feels as fashionable as it did half a century ago.
Born into an artistic family in Italy, Guidetti-Crippa developed an early interest in art and design. He studied industrial design at a prestigious Italian art school, where he acquired a solid technical and aesthetic training. His studies enabled him to master the skills needed to transform abstract concepts into tangible creations. Guidetti-Crippa began his career working for renowned design firms in Italy, where he quickly proved his worth by designing innovative and functional products. His distinctive style, characterized by clean lines, organic shapes and attention to detail, won him early recognition. Over time, Guidetti-Crippa broadened his scope of activity and worked on a variety of projects, from industrial design to interior design, furniture and lighting. He has collaborated with many prestigious brands and participated in international design exhibitions and fairs, where his creations have been widely acclaimed.
Guidetti-Crippa has also been involved in sustainable design projects, seeking to create products that combine aesthetics and functionality with environmentally friendly practices. He is known for his sensitivity to eco-design and his use of sustainable and recyclable materials. His work has been recognised by numerous awards and distinctions, acknowledging his talent and significant contribution to the world of design.
