About the Item

Functionalist floor lamp from the 1930s with chromed tubular steel frame, spherical pale green opal glass shade, and original Opaxid glass shelf. Professionally restored. This rare functionalist floor lamp from the 1930s, built around a single, continuous arc of chromed tubular steel. The structure flows seamlessly without joints – a hallmark of the modernist design ethos. The spherical shade is made of pale green opal glass and can be adjusted to direct the light. Below the light source, a circular shelf in original green Opaxid glass adds both utility and poetic contrast. This rare material, with its soft translucency and subtle green hue, underscores the lamp’s thoughtful presence. The piece has been professionally restored: the original glass elements were preserved, while the electrical system was carefully updated for safe and functional use. A similar model appeared in the educational materials for the Hej Rup! exhibition at the Bröhan Museum Berlin, highlighting its relevance in the history of design.
