Notably, this particular lamp is an early production model, stamped with the number ‘4,’ indicating it is the fourth chrome version produced—making it a rare and collectible piece. In terms of functionality, the tubular vertical stem of the TC2 is designed to rotate, allowing the user to adjust the direction of light as needed. Aldo van den Nieuwelaar, born in 1944, was a Dutch designer and architect known for his minimalist, sculptural approach to lighting and furniture. His work often featured curved steel tubes and geometric fluorescent lighting, such as the TC6, a square box with a circular fluorescent tube that became one of his most iconic designs. Throughout his career, van den Nieuwelaar collaborated with leading design brands like Pastoe and earned critical acclaim for his minimalist creations, many of which are exhibited in prominent museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
This lamp is checked in our own atelier, cleaned and is suitable for use in the USA. For US usage we could change the plug, or you can get a converter if needed for a floor or table lamp with transformer in it.
