This exceptional and monumental Art Deco sculptural lamp was executed in Italy circa 1930 and represents a rare fusion of fine sculpture, architectural presence, and atmospheric lighting. Carved entirely by hand from solid marble, the powerful eagle stands with wings partially spread, supporting a spherical alabaster globe that emits a warm, diffuse glow when illuminated.
The eagle, a potent symbol of strength, authority, and protection, was a recurring motif during the Art Deco period, particularly in the interwar years, when monumental forms and classical symbolism were reinterpreted through modern design language. The sculptor demonstrates remarkable technical mastery, visible in the precise rendering of the feathers, the sharply defined talons, and the expressive carving of the head and beak. The natural veining of the marble further enhances the sense of movement and vitality within the sculpture.
The alabaster globe, composed of finely veined natural stone, diffuses light softly and evenly, creating a warm and inviting ambiance.
