About the Item

Designed by Carlo Nason and produced by the Italian manufacturer Vetreria Mazzega Murano in the 1960s, this floor lamp is the perfect choice to light up your Space Age living room. Opaline Murano glass and chrome structure that reminds a pin with a light bulb head. Original switch with two light positions. Carlo Nason was born into a family of expert glassmakers in Murano, Italy, in 1935. His father, Vincenzo Nason, owned the well-known glass company NasonMoretti. Carlo was trained in glassblowing from a young age, learning the techniques and properties of the material. In 1959, Nason designed his first collection of blow-molded vases for V Nason C, which can now be found in the Corning Museum of Glass in New York. However, driven by his passion for design and a desire for clean, geometric forms, he decided to venture away from the family business in the 1960s. He focused on creating modern glass lighting instead of traditional ornate objects. Initially, Nason planned to produce his designs in small quantities. However, his experimentation and innovative ideas caught the attention of Murano glass manufacturer A. V. Mazzega, who invited him to collaborate on new collections. Their partnership lasted from 1965 to the 1980s and resulted in various iconic lighting designs that are still popular today. Nason also worked with other renowned Murano glassworks during this time. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Nason continued creating designs and pursued other ventures, such as consulting for Casinos Austria and working as a photographer. His work has been exhibited in prestigious museums and galleries in cities like Paris, Milan, and New York. Nason currently resides and works in Murano.
