*************
Vilhelm Wohlert (1920-2007) was a Danish architect known for his contributions to modernist architecture and design. After graduating from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1944, Wohlert worked as an architect for several prominent firms in Copenhagen. In the mid-1950s, he did work for the lighting manufacturer Le Klint amongst other the Le Klint 325 floor lamp.
Wohlert's designs were characterized by their simplicity and functionality, with a focus on clean lines and minimal ornamentation. He believed that good design should be accessible to everyone and created pieces that were both beautiful and practical.
Aside from his work at Le Klint, Wohlert also designed several important buildings in Denmark, including the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and the Royal Danish Embassy in Washington, D.C. His contributions to modernist architecture and design continue to be celebrated today, and his designs for Le Klint remain some of the most iconic examples of Danish lighting design.
