Pair of French 19th-20th Century Neoclassical Style Cast Iron Figural Torchères
Located in Los Angeles, CA
A very fine pair of French 19th-20th century neoclassical style patinated cast iron figural torchères by A. Durenne, Paris, each representing a figure of a standing young maiden, her arms raised forward while holding a a flaming urn gas light (Now electrified) with a frosted glass flame, each raised on a veined grey marble column stand, both cast-signed 'A. Durenne, Paris'. Antoine Durenne was an internationally renowned French art founder. He attended École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in 1842. Durenne purchased a small foundry in Sommevoire, near the Val d'Osne, Haute-Marne, France and established The Durenne firm, circa Paris, 1900. Cast-iron had been in production during the 18th century but its inferior status to the more fashionable and delicate wrought iron had generally confined its use to architectural work. By the early 19th century, however, rapid developments of the Industrial Revolution combined with the simultaneous burgeoning of a new middle class provided the impetus for a dramatic Expansion in its application and in a short space of time a proliferation of iron foundries across Europe and America thrived on the production of everything from inkstands to railway stations. The use of cast-iron for garden ornament became particularly widespread at this time, as the possibilities for its mass-production at a fraction of the cost of bronze made it the material of choice for outdoor statuary...

Maison Charles Attributed Pair of Tall Ostrich Egg and Brass French Table Lamps
By Maison Charles et Fils
Located in Landau an der Isar, Bayern
Maison Charles attributed midcentury vintage pair of French gilt bronze neoclassical lamps centered on ostrich eggs. Stunning craftsmanship with beautifully cast brass elements, the palm leaf details above the powder blue eggs, the acorn final on the lampshade holder, the neoclassical style darting on the bands and legs and the cloven goat hoof feet which sit upon the solid cast brass base. These most beautifully opulent and decadent large table lamps are, unfortunately, not signed with the usual 'Charles - made in France' or 'Charles e fils' stamps. However, we do believe that these were made by Maison Charles based...

Fine Quality Agricultural Themed Figural Bronze Tall Floor Lamp Circa 1900
By F. Milliot
Located in Swedesboro, NJ
This agricultural themed figural bronze tall floor lamp, circa 1900, is a remarkable piece of decorative art and functional lighting. Standing tall and stately, the lamp features a finely cast bronze figure of a working man in period attire, symbolizing strength, labor, and the agrarian lifestyle. The sculpted details—from the folds of his garments to the expressive posture—exemplify early 20th century craftsmanship and artistic realism. Rising above the figure is an intricately designed stem that supports a large, decorative globe adorned with elaborate foliate and scrollwork patterns. The top is crowned with a smaller figural accent, creating a sense of vertical grandeur. The rich bronze patina enhances the depth of the detailing, giving this piece a warm, timeless character. Ideal as a statement piece for entryways, living rooms, or libraries, this lamp blends beautifully with antique, Hollywood Regency, and even mid-century modern design schemes. Beyond its practical lighting function, it serves as a sculptural focal point that reflects the elegance, symbolism, and artistry of turn-of-the-century European design. A rare find, this tall bronze floor lamp...
