French Art Deco Floor Lamp in Patinated Brass with Stepped Black Base, circe 1930
A refined and sculptural French Art Deco floor lamp, executed circa the 1930s, distinguished by its strong geometric vocabulary and elegant proportions. Hand-crafted using traditional metalworking techniques and hand-worked and assembled, the design reflects the high level of craftsmanship characteristic of French Art Deco workshops of the period.
The lamp features a slender vertical stem punctuated by inverted and upright conical brass elements, creating a dynamic sense of balance and architectural rhythm. The brass surfaces retain a warm, subtly patinated finish, emphasizing the hand-finished quality of the piece.
It rests on a stepped circular base finished in black lacquer, providing visual weight and contrast while reinforcing the lamp’s architectural presence. The crisp transitions between cone, cylinder, and stepped disc forms exemplify the era’s fascination with symmetry, modernity, and machine-age elegance.
