Rare c.1920s Philips Industrial Flood Light on Saut du Tarn Metal Base — Floor Standing
A striking and exceptionally rare c.1920s floor-standing industrial flood light manufactured by Philips, mounted on a original heavy Saut du Tarn cast-metal base. A true statement piece, this example embodies the raw, functional aesthetic of early 20th-century industrial design and delivers a powerful loft-style presence.
The large conical shade has a superb utilitarian form, balanced by the sculptural, almost Brutalist French base. Both components are clearly marked: “Philips” on the lamp and “Saut du Tarn” on the base — a combination that points to professional use in factories, workshops, or wartime engineering facilities where maximum illumination was essential.
Fully adjustable, the lamp can be locked into position via oversized wing nuts and toothed brackets — allowing for directional, wall-wash, or full uplight effects. This makes the piece remarkably versatile for modern interiors. It comes fitted with approximately 4 metres of rubber flex (European plug) and retains its original 500W bulb, all in working order.
It's 220v but can easily changed to 110v by an electrician.
Perfect as a dramatic feature in lofts, studios, retail displays, creative workspaces, or as a bold sculptural light in the home. An eye-catching industrial artifact that is impossible to overlook.
