About the Item

Set of two Aura floor lamps by Mark Brazier-Jones, designed during the first half of the 1990s. Mark Brazier-Jones (UK) is known for his particular surrealistic style often referred to as neo classical or even space-age baroque. According to the artist himself, “Form does follow function” but he does consider part of the furniture’s function as decorative, expressed by a certain flamboyance found in most of his designs. Of our Aura floor lamps only 10 in total were produced. They are completely made in (gilded) metal, and have a coloured sheet wrapped fluorescent bulb as a light source. Mark Brazier-Jones’ work is featured in several museums, and have seen steadily rising prices in the last few years. Materials: Metal Origination: United Kingdom, 1990s Condition: Signs of normal age and patina, no damages or repairs Approximate dimensions: Height: 207 cm Depth: 32 cm Width: 33 cm Price per piece. Classic Italian Design Luminator Floor Lamp by Pietro Chiesa for Fontana Arte
By Pietro Chiesa
Located in Renens, CH
Please note that the price is for 1 lamp. Floor lamp designed by Pietro Chiesa in 1933 and produced by Fontana Arte. The Luminator was for its time a groundbreaking design, and considered to be the first indirect light floor lamp in design history. The lamp is completely built up in metal, consisting of a stem that widens into a cone. The color can be best described as a very light grey, with a hint of blue. The finish is not smooth, but has a relief to it. Light source: E14 Screw-in halogen or incandescent bulb. Can be used on the US electric grid after a plug change (we can do this for you!). Origination: Italy, 1980s. Most lamps carry the Fontana Arte label...
