About the Item

An elegant and highly refined Model 5705 floor lamp designed by Paavo Tynell and produced by Taito Oy, Finland, in the 1930s. The design showcases Tynell’s signature balance between craftsmanship and lightness — a harmonious composition of nickel-plated brass, stained birch, and a handwoven wood-slat shade that casts a warm, atmospheric glow. The lamp’s slender silhouette, curved arm, and finely detailed height adjustment embody the meticulous craftsmanship of early Tynell production. The combination of wood and metal captures Tynell’s poetic approach to modern lighting — elegant, functional, and timeless. A rare and collectible example from the early era of Finnish lighting design.
