About the Item
Unique, Extraordinary Handmade Pair of French Mid-Century (1940s) Modern Neoclassical floor lamps, standing lamps or sculptures in hand-forged iron in the style of Alberto and Diego Giacometti. The Giacometti's were heavily influenced by primitive quality of ancient Etruscan Art and they frequently referenced animal forms presented in a spare, modern context in their works. These stunning master works of design and blacksmithing are composed of a similar aesthetic, spare, modern, referencing nature and allowing the force of blacksmith's hammer to reveal his work through deep hammer marks. They are in hammered wrought iron with tripod bases supporting the profiles of swans which have a reflector / bowl at their center containing the electric sockets. The tripod base is deeply hammered and finished with three hand forged wrought iron bird feet. These masterworks exemplify the great tradition of French iron work.
