About the Item
Exceptional floor lamp from Manises, Spain, circa 1900, uniting richly glazed majolica ceramics with elaborate wrought iron work in the Gothic Revival style.
The wrought iron base and structure feature intricate scrolls, arches, and foliate motifs reminiscent of Neo-Gothic craftsmanship, while colorful majolica elements in vibrant yellow, blue, red, and black bring a striking decorative contrast. The tall shaft rises to support a large ceramic bowl with eight surrounding lights, each mounted on ornate iron arms with leaf-form bobeches.
This rare piece reflects the artistry of Manises workshops at the turn of the century, when traditional Spanish ceramic techniques were combined with revivalist ironwork to create bold, architectural lighting.
A statement collector’s piece, combining the grandeur of Gothic Revival design with the vivid colors and craftsmanship of Spanish majolica.
