About the Item

Tizio 35 Terra floor lamp, designed by Richard Sapper for Artemide in 1971, was a groundbreaking piece of design. With its black, angular, and minimalist form, the Tizio lamp exuded a mysterious allure. Though initially introduced in the early 1970s, it reached peak commercial success in the 1980s, perfectly aligning with the Wall Street boom. It became a staple in the homes of young professionals and the offices of top executives, solidifying its status as an icon of high-tech design. • What set the Tizio apart was its innovative engineering—electricity flowed seamlessly from the base through the metal arms to the light source, eliminating the need for visible cords (aside from the one connecting to the power outlet). Additionally, the removable column base allowed for versatile use, transforming it into a desk lamp when needed. • The Tizio lamp received multiple prestigious awards, including the Gold Medal at Triennale XV (1974), the Grand Prix at Triennale XV (1974), a Compasso d’Oro Selection (1979), and the Gold Medal at BIO 9 in Ljubljana (1981).
