About the Item
Christian Duc (1947-2013)
Archéologie future, Ca. 1987
Edition Delisle, Paris, France
Provenance:
Galerie Néotù, Paris
Collection of a fashion designer, Paris
Illuminated basin with a green patinated bronze tripod structure supporting a thick glass bowl engraved around its entire circumference
The Archéologie future light bowl, designed by Christian Duc and manufactured by the metalworker Delisle, is a marvel evoking the madness of the 1980s. This neo-Greek object, which could take pride of place in the Villa Kerylos, was produced in five copies according to Jean Delisle, one of which is part of the permanent collections of the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York. The bowl was made by glassmaker Guillaume Saalburg. Winner of the special jury prize at the 1987 lighting exhibition, our example was purchased by a fashion designer from the Néotù gallery. There is a second, simpler version with a black painted steel structure.
