About the Item
Superb quality, French Gothic Revival pendant lantern dating to around 1860, exquisitely handcrafted in heavy cast bronze. This rare piece showcases remarkable chasing and architectural detail, with eight arched panels of hand-hammered textured glass framed by slender columns and crowned with intricate Gothic tracery. The lantern features a small hinged door for access to the interior and retains its original open base as it originally was fitted for candles, later professionally electrified for modern use. The bottom adorned with romantic scrollwork. Provenanced from a private castle in the French Loire Valley.
Height of body only 26 inch.
