About the Item

Antique Italian Lantern Hand-Carved over 250-Years Ago and remarkably does not appear to have ever been restored, only electrified a very long time ago. We had this Antique hand-carved Italian Gilded Wood Lantern hanging in the front entry for about 10-years and when we moved, sadly there was just no place for our favorite Lantern. When you begin to look very hard you can see some old repairs, which must be expected on an Antique Lantern this old. The patina of the gilding looks spot-on and it does not appear to have ever been restored. The dead giveaway is the black shoot from the fireplace and the pattern of the shoot as it would fall from above. Should someone want to see more gold, you could remove some of the black, but we are sticklers for originality and prefer the lantern as is. Please read notes below. **Height provided does not include the canopy. The canopy measures 4" high with an 8" diameter. ***Please note two scratches in a pane of glass, image 7.
