About the Item

Crafted from gilt brass, the lantern features a cylindrical frosted glass shade that diffuses light beautifully, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. Four rods connect the bottom and top brass, adding an ornamental element while securing the lantern. The curled ends of the rods create a lovely visual. The brass frame is adorned with intricate chased repoussé details, showcasing floral garlands and classical motifs characteristic of the neoclassical aesthetic. The bottom brass band is decorated with ornamental elements of vegetation and fruit. Corn represented royalty and prosperity while the pear symbolized affection. Rewired: Rewired to US electrical standards, it takes one base-size light, incandescent or LED; ready for installation. To lengthen, three feet of wire at the top can be adjusted to the preferred height but another ceiling cover with chain is required. Wear consistent with age and use. The handmade frosted glass is intact, and the gilt brass retains its original luster.
