About the Item

Manufactured in Czechoslovakia during the 1960s, these compact crystal cut glass flush sconce lights date to the height of Eastern Bloc industrial production under communist rule. Originally installed in municipal buildings in Prague, each fixture reflects the utilitarian yet expressive design language of the era. The design features a white or black Bakelite base paired with a clear, intricately moulded glass globe measuring approximately 150mm in diameter. When illuminated, the cut glass creates a radiant burst effect, diffusing light with visual depth and texture. Suitable for both wall and ceiling installation, these fixtures offer a versatile solution for smaller interior spaces. Their modest scale and distinctive mid-century character make them particularly well suited to hallways, stairwells, cloakrooms, and compact rooms where a subtle statement is desired. Each light has been professionally restored and re-wired with new CE-certified electrical components. UL-listed components are supplied for orders to the United States.
