About the Item

A pair of 19th century, Louis XVI style wall sconces, in chiselled and gilded bronze, in a very striking neoclassical design. The reeded backplate is in torch form, with a swagged urn above, topped with an acorn finial. The two arms have foliate bases and the sconces have acanthus leaf decoration and drip trays edged with a twisted rop motif. circa 1860
