About the Item
A mid-century modernist wall lamp designed by Bo Råman and produced by the Swedish lighting manufacturer ASEA Belysning in the 1950s. Crafted from brass, it features a bowl-shaped glass shade and a solid oak and teak wall mount with an integrated light switch. The shade is adjustable and can be tilted. Marked ASEA on the joint holding the shade.
ASEA, the Swedish electrical company, was established as early as 1883, specializing in the production of electrical lights and generators. By the late 1940s, ASEA had acquired several rival companies, solidifying its position as one of Sweden's premier manufacturers of light fixtures. ASEA's Stockholm drawing office was responsible for the development of numerous modernistic lamps, designed for both public spaces and domestic applications. The company collaborated with several renowned designers, including Hans Bergström and Uno Kristiansson, over the years.
