A rare and striking pair of early 20th-century wall sconces by Maison Arlus, each featuring a beautifully cast bronze hand grasping an elongated blackened metal torch-form rod topped with a tulip-shaped opaline glass shade. Blending Art Deco and mid-century French design influences, the sconces showcase sculptural detailing, warm aged bronze patina, and elegant proportions, complemented by oval bronze-and-ebonized backplates. In very good vintage condition with light wear consistent with age, these highly collectible Arlus pieces provide soft, diffused illumination and serve as exceptional statement fixtures in any interior; rewiring is recommended to meet modern electrical standards.
