About the Item

A distinctive Mid-Century Modern Scandinavian wall sconce designed by Nils Ledung for Bankeryd, Sweden, produced in the late 1960s. This striking piece combines sculptural form with richly expressive materials, resulting in a light that is both functional and highly decorative. The sconce features a warm amber-toned glass front, flanked on each side by three circular white glass panels. When illuminated, the lamp emits a soft, atmospheric glow, creating a warm and inviting ambience. The copper frame—originally suitable for outdoor use—has developed a naturally oxidized surface with a deep green or blue patina, lending the piece an industrial yet refined character that beautifully contrasts with the colored glass elements. While rooted in late-1960s design, the lamp retains a distinctly contemporary presence, making it an exceptional accent in both modern and eclectic interiors. The lamp has been newly rewired for indoor use and is suitable for Sweden and most EU countries. With minor adjustments, it can easily be adapted for outdoor installation. Condition: Very good vintage condition, with minor surface abrasions to the metal consistent with age and use.
