About the Item
We are presenting for sales a stunning pair of Italian 1940s hand carved, oil gilded mirror Girandole wall sconces in the Baroque style that Andrew bought in the renowned antiques markets of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue near Avignon in the South of France while on holiday some years back
These beautiful deep carved sconces have a 3cm Deep frame, 2cm internal depth from frame to mirror glass.
They have not been restored and are in the original gilded finish, which shows natural signs of its age in places which we fell only adds to the overall charm and appeal of this pair. There are some chips in the gilding and areas where the gilding has split (we have shown many pictures but if you would like to see more please just ask) but the wall lights are solid and the construction is sound as we have demonstrated in the video by shaking them gently from the arm. The mirrors are also original and in excellent condition with no scratches and only some faint signs of antiquing which one would expect for over 80 years old. The back sheet of 2mm thick wood holding them in place is also original as shown in the photos
We have recently had them rewired and PAT Tested for safety, with a E14 Bulb holder, but they can easily be rewired for USA if required (there would be an additional cost for rewiring)
