A Striking Pair of Giltwood Rococo Revival Wall Sconces
This magnificent pair of antique wall sconces, dating from the early 20th Century, embodies the flamboyant elegance of the Rococo Revival style. With their exquisitely carved giltwood frames and rich detailing, they are designed to add a dramatic flourish and luxurious accent to any interior.
These sconces celebrate the asymmetrical, naturalistic, and curvilinear forms characteristic of the 18th-century Rococo period, revived with gusto in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The intricate scrolling foliage, C-scrolls, and shell motifs are hallmarks of this decorative style.
