About the Item
A mid-century wall lamp designed in the 1950s by Hans Bergström for the Swedish lighting manufacturer Ateljé Lyktan. This is a rare variant of model 434, featuring three cylindrical shades instead of the more common two. The lamp is constructed with a solid brass frame that supports three elegant white acrylic cylinders, each fitted with two lampholders, providing generous and evenly diffused illumination. A striking example of Bergström’s refined mid-century aesthetic, this piece combines sculptural presence with functional clarity—an exceptional find for collectors of Scandinavian modern lighting.
The manufacturer Ateljé Lyktan was founded in 1934 by Hans and Verna Bergström in the Swedish town of Helsingborg. Demand for their products quickly outgrew the small workshop, prompting a move to the town of Åhus. Over the following decades, Hans Bergström designed a wide range of high-quality lighting fixtures. Since they were produced in relatively small quantities, these pieces are now highly sought after by collectors.
