About the Item
This pair of 1940s Hollywood sconces were realized in the United States, circa 1940. They feature brushed nickel bodies offering cylindrical necks; circular bobeches with foliate detailing; and curved and fluted arms that attach to the reeded backplate. A floral finial extends downwards between the joint of each arm. The backplate offers an oval form with a garland motif in the centre circumscribed by abstracted and deconstructed Greek key detailing. Additionally, there is stylized ribbon detail flowing above the central cartouche. With its wonderful attention to detail and impeccable construction, this pair of sconces is as versatile as they are aesthetically pleasing, blending perfectly with any style of interior from traditional to contemporary. They have been newly rewired to and are in excellent condition. Each sconce accommodates two candelabra based bulbs providing up to 120 watts of light each. Excellent condition.
