About the Item
An Italian pair of carved and painted wood two-light sconces from the early 20th century. These antique hand-carved wood sconces from Italy have shapely back plates with an acanthus leaf and swag motif, from which the two curved arms, with volutes and leaf wrapped carved accents, reach outward at opposing angles, each supporting their wooden bobèches and painted candle sleeves. The finish is earthy and has a wonderful old patina and show of age throughout. These light fixtures have been rewired for the US. These early 20th century Italian two-light sconces will look lovely in a bedroom, bathroom, or living room area.

A French pair of 19th century sconces mounted on shapely carved and painted wood back-plates. This antique pair of sconces from France have been fashioned from 19th century brass/metal fixtures consisting of elaborately designed metal plaques, metal backplates, and a three-arm light fixture in leaf motif with metal flower petal wrapped bobèches, which have been mounted on 20th century wooden plaques. The carved wood plaque are shapely with scalloped top sides and rounded bottoms, and have a muted green finish which looks quite nice with the patina of the brass and metal.
