About the Item

Iconic wall lamps designed by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte in 1960. Brass frame, colored crystals in shades of blue, pink and light blue, shaped and satin-finished curved crystal diffuser. A celebrated master of art glass, Max Ingrand grew up admiring the stained glass windows of Chartres Cathedral, his first real source of inspiration. Through continuous research into acid and sand etching techniques, he achieved a masterful refinement of craft. He came to FontanaArte's artistic direction in the mid-1950s, becoming the leading figure in the transition to industrial production and licensing some of the most original solutions ever produced. Fontana Arte is an Italian company founded in Milan, Italy in 1932 by Luigi Fontana and Giò Ponti and specializes in glass processing and the manufacture of furniture accessories. It is known for working with curved crystal and producing lighting fixtures, becoming over the years the 'most prominent company for Italian design.
