About the Item

This is a stunning set. Larry Lubow's love of spheres is on display in this pair of monumental burnished copper wall sconces with a third piece, which is a ceiling flush mount pendant that completes the trio. This is from the studio of listed California artist Larry Lubow. The size and scope of the sconces is considerable. His firing technique creates a pearlescent finish to the copper that is visible in the closeups. Take a look. The artist completed the sconces with a thin matte lacquer finish. Sublime. He created a pair of sconces in this style for an estate in Carlsbad, CA., to light the way installed on four-foot gates--if you can imagine. They have a neo classical flair to our eye, and the trio would be wonderful in a foyer or passage to an outdoor setting. They measure 26 x 18 x 27 inches. They are dramatic. Lubow created these custom hand forged pieces with an eye on geometry. He says he loves spheres, and he has a mathematical mind. We visited him in his San Pedro studio before he relocated his work space earlier this year. He says he has always been drawn to shapes. The quality and the effect of the patina is beautiful. The sconces were designed for a choice of lighting treatment including halogen, but they are ready-to go for electric hardwiring. They are ready for installation.
